Literally "All Hallows's Eve" or "All Saints' Eve", Halloween is a very ancient festival of Irish tradition that finds its origins in Samhain, the Celtic New Year.
On the eve of each new year, which coincided with the October 31st, the Celts organized a great one party to exorcise the fear of death with the joy of celebration, wearing grotesque masks to scare the spirits during the night when the afterlife merged with the world of the living.
Then imported into the United States, and from there also spread to Europe, Halloween has become the iconic and famous night of monsters, witches and zombies, during which adults and children wear frightening disguises and wander from house to house for the famous rite of "trick or treat".
Halloween is a holiday loved all over the world and, if for this monstrous occasion you have decided to organize a dinner at home, why not use pumpkin and good wine?
There are various recipes where to use pumpkin, including pumpkin and bacon bruschetta, savory pies or pumpkin desserts, but certainly among the most inviting there will be the Emilian pumpkin tortelli….
But what wine to pair with?
Well, a wine with good structure such as a red, a nice blood red just to stay on topic, is the most standard option for pairing, but you can still opt for slightly more extravagant versions than normal, as a rose or even one sparkling rosé according to the types of flow rate, so as to enhance the sweetness of the pumpkin.
Hoping not to have scared you, give free rein to your imagination and have a good time Halloween!
