La viticoltura divenne presto di rilievo tanto che i Greeks denominarono la nostra penisola come “ ENOTRIA” ovvero terra del vino.
Il ruolo dei Romani e dei monaci Benedettini fu fondamentale nella diffusione della vite che si mosse lungo tutte le tratte commerciali e i possedimenti di culto.
