Ma di che cosa si tratta?
Deriva da un’antica leggenda religiosa according to which Martin of Tours met a beggar on the road home on a stormy day.
Impietosito alla vista del pover’uomo in balia delle intemperie gli gave half of his cloak. And so, miraculously, the rain stopped falling and the wind stopped raging, the clouds disappeared from the sky and the weather became mild and pleasant.
This legend has come down to our days; indeed, it is still a very brief period of approximately tre giorni dove nonostante il clima autunnale, we have milder weather conditions.
This celebration is famous because it unites the Christian liturgy with the peasant tradition; indeed, the Indian Summer of Saint Martin is one of the most famous dates in the world of wine and agriculture in general.
Tradizione vuole che in questi giorni si rinnovino i contratti agricoli annuali e si aprano le botti per il primo assaggio del vino novello, che proprio in questo periodo viene messo in commercio.
Ogni regione italiana festeggia a suo modo questa ricorrenza con feste, sagre, eventi che vedono come protagonista il vino.
